LARSEN (NBC 26) — On Saturday many people spent the afternoon on Lake Poygan not just fishing but golfing.
"I knew it was going to be frozen so why not golf,” said Dan Domrzalski, the owner of Boom Bay Bar & Grill.
The fourth annual “Swinging for CP” ice golf outing took place on Lake Poygan near Boom Bay Bar & Grill in Larsen.
While people golfed on the frozen lake, they had entertainment and raffles at the bar. All proceeds going to support Cerebral Palsy“CP”.
CP is a group of disorders that can affect a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture.
Bobby Fox whose now in his 30s has been living with CP for many years now.
“Obviously he's different but he's a ray of sunshine. Upbeat all the time,” said a golf participant.
For over a decade Bobby has been going to the CP Center.
It’s a non profit that helps those living with physical, cognitive, communication and sensory conditions help achieve the things they didn't think they could.
"I love it!" Said Bobby Fox. "I walk in water."
The only time Bobby is able to walk is at the CP center's pool. The water helps him build strength and keep him active.
"It gives him a quality of life he may not otherwise have. He has a purpose to go out everyday during the week. He's 32 years old and he's still going out and doing things, socializing and having a great time. He looks forward to going to CP,” said Debbie Fox, Bobby’s mother.
The event hoped to raise $20,000 this year.
