GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The "Give BIG Green Bay" giving event has raised more than 2 million dollars for local organizations.
Give BIG Green Bay is a 24-hour online giving event to raise funds to support more than 40 nonprofits in Brown County. People donated to local organizations online through www.givebiggreenbay.org.
According to organizers, a $250,000 grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation will help every dollar donated go further. Additional funds have been made available this year through local donors, bringing the matching dollars and incentives total to $350,000.
Organizers of the event say 45 nonprofits were chosen to participate this year. Participants include the YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin and Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
The event runs from noon February 16 to noon February 17.
