BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) — As gas prices go up, it's a hit to wallets across Northeast Wisconsin.
The price jump can affect so many plans including people who are getting ready for a road trip this spring break.
"We decided we were going to do Orlando, Universal, and everything and do the whole week. We made that decision in like July of last year,” said Casandra Neuville.
For Casandra Neuville of De Pere, she, her husband, and two kids have a trip to Florida coming up in less than two weeks, but with rising costs of gas, she's currently in the process of deciding what car they'll be driving.
"As much as I'd love to go in the truck because you have more space to put things under seats and stuff. It's like it really worth it though because that's an additional from what we were looking at so far, three to four hundred dollars. That's a lot of money,” Neuville said.
It’s extra money that Neuville and her husband didn't anticipate spending.
"We were pulling up the route. Okay well, we can go six hours on one tank, so six hours will get us to this city. What's the average cost there?” Neuville said.
And experts warn expect to spend even more soon.
"Probably will see prices go even higher in the next couple of days and next few weeks but hopefully not another 50 cent increase,” said Nick Jarmusz, AAA Director of Public Affairs.
But despite the gas hikes the family of four are still planning to go no matter what, even if that means cutting a few costs here and there as a result.
"Maybe we don't spend as much on something else because we have to put it into the fuel to get to and from somewhere,” said Neuville.
