Free event at Rawhide in New London will honor Bart Starr’s legacy

Bart Starr's legacy will be honored at a free event open to the public on Saturday, September 14. The Packers organization said Monday that fans planning to attend the event at Rawhide in New London are are asked to register by September 6.

According to the Packers, the celebration will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., and will include a youth football camp for children, face painting, bounce houses, mini Packers Hall of Fame exhibits, food trucks and tours of Rawhide’s facility. The Packers say a program will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. featuring Cherry and Bart Starr Jr., along with several of Starr’s former teammates and players, who will share their experiences.

Commemorative shirts will also be available for purchase as a keepsake, with proceeds benefiting Rawhide, a non-profit that the Starr family supports. The organization provides programs for at-risk youth and their families.

This event is held on the same weekend as the Packers’ home opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 15. Bart Starr will be recognized during a ceremony program at halftime.
