The flowers on Sue Tabbert's kitchen table are a sign that springtime means change.
The Appleton resident plans to move from her home to a senior living center.
"I found myself alone, and the pandemic taught me that I don't want to be alone," Tabbert said.
She found her next home, before selling her current house.
And that is how Jean Long Manteufel, who works as a senior move manager said it should be done.
Seniors selling their house without having a new home lined up "... literally becomes a crisis [situation]," Manteufel said.
"Because now, they have to deal with it all, there's the stress, the anxiety, the health that is not up to doing all this activity really quick."
Here is Long Manteufel's advice for seniors who want to move:
1.) "Figure out where you're going, and have a contract in place," then
2.) Deal with the contents of your home, and list it for sale
And that is the order Tabbert followed in the process.
"I'm very relaxed about the move," Tabbert said.
"I wish it was done, but it's going to be soon."
