FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) — Scott Theisen, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, received a new roof for his home in Fond du Lac on Thursday from Security-Luebke Roofing, an Owens Corning Platinum Roofing Contractor, as part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.

Through a partnership with Purple Heart Homes, Theisen was selected and approved as the recipient for the roof replacement.

"Based on the 8 to 10 responses that we got specifically about (Theisen) from friends and family, we felt that he was very much deserving of his new roof," said Todd Murphy, vice president of Security Leubke Roofing. "Based on how he serves the community, how he served our country. Most of what people said was that he'd give you the shirt off his back."

Theisen served in the Marines in the mid 1980s, and now he serves people in need by driving them to doctor's appointments, said Murphy, adding "it appears that (Theisen) has a servant's heart."

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a nationwide effort to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served the United States and the families who support them. Since the inception of this program in 2016, more than 250 military members have received new roofs.

"We enjoy giving back to the community in general," Murphy said. "This is one that all of our employees look forward to doing. We have people in the office that evaluate the responses that we get and the applications that we get from people that are in need of a roof. Veterans that are in need of a roof. And it is something that we look forward to doing every year."
