Fond du Lac Police investigating after discovering crash victim had a gunshot wound

FOND DU LAC (WGBA 26) — Fond du Lac Police are investigating a shooting incident, after it was discovered that a man involved in a early morning crash had a gunshot wound.

According to police, they were called to the area of South Marr Street at Sheboygan Street just after 2 a.m. today for a report of a single vehicle crash.

When they arrived officers found a vehicle with substantial damage that had hit a light pole and several parking meters. The driver, a 39 year old Fond du Lac man, was unresponsive but breathing. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Once at the hospital, it was discovered that the man had a gunshot wound to the leg. He was then taken by helicopter to Theda Care Regional Medical Center.

Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood where the crash occurred looking for anyone who may have information on this incident.
