BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) — Five people, most of whom were children, were sent to the hospital Sunday following a crash, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies responded at around 10:35 a.m. to CTH K just east of STH 57 for reports of a crash in which multiple people were injured and one person was trapped.

Upon arrival, the Sheriff's Office said it was determined that a pick-up towing a camper had been eastbound on CTH K and that a vehicle had pulled out of a driveway in front of the truck causing the truck to strike the car in the driver’s side door.

The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old New Franken area man, received minor injuries. The Sheriff's Office said his three passengers in the rear seat, a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and a 10-year-old girl were transported by County Rescue to the hospital with minor/moderate injuries. Everyone was wearing their seatbelt.

The Sheriff's Office said the front seat passenger in the vehicle that pulled out of the driveway, an 18-year-old man, was able to walk from the crash but was transported by County Rescue to the hospital with moderate injuries. The 16-year-old female driver was extricated by New Franken Fire and transported by County Rescue to the hospital with critical injuries.

The roadway has been shut down while the Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit documents the scene. It is anticipated the road will be back open in the next 2 hours.
