SHEBOYGAN COUNTY (NBC 26) — Five people were arrested Thursday in a law enforcement operation targeting human trafficking, according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.
Multiple departments coordinated to run the undercover operation as it relates to prostitution and solicitation of prostitution, the sheriff's office said in a press release Friday.
The Sheriff's Office said the five people arrested were identified by investigators using popular websites that authorities say have been specifically generated for the purpose of arranging sexual encounters in exchange for money.
Two of the people arrested were from Sheboygan County and the other three were from adjacent counties.
Four counts of pandering/soliciting were filed as a result of the arrests, as well as one count of solicitation of prostitutes.
The sheriff's office said multiple agencies were involved, including the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Plymouth Police Department, Kohler Police Department, Sheboygan Falls Police Department, Elkhart Lake Police Department, Sheboygan Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office.
