GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The Green Bay Public Works Department said everything went relatively smooth for the first snowfall of the season. Now, the attention turns to next week's anticipated snow storm.
Steve Grenier, director for Green Bay public works, said crews were out as early as Saturday treating the roads before snow hit pavement. It's the same method Grenier said they hope to use next week.
"I would anticipate the travel conditions for Wednesday morning for the commute to work are going to be challenging because the snow may not be done by then so our crews will still be out combating that. We try to make sure to time out our operations. If we can wait for the event to be over with that is preferable, but that is often not the case. What we are really looking for is to minimize an inch or less on the road after we are done,” Steve Grenier said.
In the meantime, Grenier said the department is in good shape when it comes to the city's salt supply.
"We are still working on 2020's budgeted salt. We came out of the spring in really good shape and we had really good source coming into the fall. We are in really good shape relative to get us through right now," said Grenier.
Officials remind drivers to use caution and give plenty of time to arrive to their final destination.
