NEENAH — Early this morning firefighters were called to the Neenah Foundry for reports of a fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find that the fire had started in the basement and had risen up through the air shafts.
"The smoke was heavy black smoke, very hard to see inside, very hot, it had crews working off their knees and on their bellies in the basement," said Neenah-Menasha Fire Chief Kevin Kloehen.
With the help of about nine local departments, Kloehen reported that they had the fire out around noon. No one was injured in the fire and all employees were evacuated safely. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
