GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — One firefighter was treated on the scene and transported to a local hospital while fighting a structure fire in the area of 1124 North Baird Street.
Green Bay Metro Fire Department was dispatched to Packer City Sales at 5:05 a.m. for a structure fire that lasted two and half hours.
In a report by the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, when crews arrived, heavy black smoke was seen on the east side of the structure. Soon after, fire was seen pushing out of the roof on the west side of the building.
Firefighters switched tactics to a defensive mode due to the roof sagging from fire damage and the incident was then upgraded to a box alarm to the 2nd level.
Extra resources provided more support on the scene and the fire was deemed under control with the assistance of box alarm companies.
No civilian injuries were reported and the loss is estimated at a million dollars.
The fire is currently under investigation.
