APPLETON (NBC 26) — A family is displaced after a fire destroyed their Appleton home Saturday afternoon.

Crews responded to a call shortly after noon in the 1000 block of E. Florida Ave. of smoke rolling out of the roof, according to the Appleton Fire Department.

When crews arrived, they saw fire coming through the roof. Officials said the building wasn't stable. Crews left the house and initiated defensive operations.

Two adults and one pet are displaced. No injuries were reported.

The AFD said damage to the home and everything inside was "extensive and considered a total loss." Initial damage estimates are more than $250,000.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
