GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- The COVID-19 pandemic has left many applying for unemployment. This is leaving some with financial hardship.

"Indivuduals are probably going to start to experience the economic impact of this virus if they haven’t already," said Michael Macco, a financial adviser in Green Bay.

He reccomends people file for unemployment, because he says soon the government will offer help to those who need it. Also, he says many local banks are waiving the requirements to pay for mortgage or car loan. Associated Bank will not foreclose or reposes a car for the next 60 days.

"Banks are helping some who need it which is nice," Macco said. "For some that aren't I recommend people be proactive and ask their bank what their options are."

Maccos said the stimulus package passed by the government could hold some people over with finances. However he understands times are tough. He recommends, once this is all over, people should save some money.

"Recessions happen," Macco said. "I'm not saying something like the coronavius will happen again, but it is good to safe some money after this."
