CALUMET COUNTY (NBC 26) — Before you pull out your swimsuits and sunscreen for the unofficial end to summer, you might want to consider bringing out your sweaters instead.
With temperatures in the 60s and 70s across Northeast Wisconsin, it has definitely been feeling like fall.
These were the breathtaking views from the top of the tower at High Cliff State Park on Saturday.
Though it was chilly and a little bit breezy during afternoon, the weather didn’t stop families from coming out and taking in the beauty of nature.
“We were talking about it before it feels a lot like November right now, not even September. It’s just almost kind of like of an end of fall feel but we don’t even have the fall colors here yet,” said Mallory Eisenreich, Green Bay.
And while there is no fall foliage just yet, leaves can already be seen on the ground.
“It is really pretty, we noticed when we were on the hike that the wind was coming through the trees. I really like it, especially the water too,” Eisenreich said. “It did seem a little soon because I did miss summer weather a lot but it’s kind of nice to not be sweating on a hike.”
For others this Labor Day weekend, they spent it camping and grilling.
“This is dinner just about ready,” said Scott Boyer showing us his ribeye.
Boyer who is visiting all the way from California says while some are wishing for warmer days, he couldn’t have asked for better temperatures.
“This is perfect for us, we love to be in 70 degree weather. It’s kind of what we like to do as we drive around the country, is chase 70 degree weather,” Boyer said.
For the out of townee, he said nothing is stopping him from enjoying the last hurrah of summer.
“Today was awesome, I went for a bike ride this morning and I got rained on but it was nice. It was just like a drizzle and it was not bad at all,” Boyer said.
