LAWRENCE (NBC 26) -- An SUV is reported to have crashed on the highway, killing one passenger and sending four to the hospital around 6 a.m. Sunday.
The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department says they responded to the crash on I41 northbound, south of Scheuring Road in the Town of Lawrence.
According to the report, a four-door Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV lost control on the road and rolled several times before coming to a stop in the median. The vehicle had severe damage.
Police say one female passenger died. The driver, a 27-year-old Appleton man, and three other passengers were reportedly transported to a local hospital. They say alcohol appears to be a contributing factor to the crash.
Law enforcement has a detour from Scheuring Road to the frontage roads. I41 southbound at Scheuring will be closed for reconstruction of the accident. One lane on I41 northbound is also shut down during reconstruction of the accident.
This crash is currently under investigation.
