APPLETON (NBC 26) — Face masks will now be required on all Valley Transit vehicles and at the Transit Center, as authorized by a presidential executive order and as mandated by the CDC.
In a press release, Valley Transit, the public transportation service in the Fox Cities, announced they will now require all passengers ages two and older to wear a face mask over both their nose and mouth at all times when riding Valley Transit and when using the Transit Center as mandated by the CDC.
The statement goes on to say that noncompliance is a violation of federal law.
“While this executive order is new, wearing masks on Valley Transit vehicles and at the Transit Center is not. We have been closely following CDC guidelines since the beginning of the pandemic,” Ron McDonald, general manager of Valley Transit, said. “We appreciate our riders who are overwhelmingly accepting of wearing masks and respectful of our bus drivers who work tirelessly to continue our essential service.”
Mandated by the CDC through an executive order signed by President Joe Biden, the requirements will go into effect starting Feb. 1, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
Face shields will no longer be acceptable forms of face coverings. Failure to comply with this executive order is a violation of federal law. For more information on the federal law by presidential executive order 13998, you can visit the CDC at cdc.gov.
