OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — Oshkosh Police said Wednesday that officers are investigating vague threats involving Oshkosh West High School and other schools in surrounding areas.
Oshkosh Police said the department was made aware at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday of images on social media circulating and indicating a vague threat to Oshkosh West High School.
Through interviewing several students and sharing information with surrounding agencies, police determined the images did not originate in this area. Police also said other area agencies were investigating similar incidents with these shared images, including Appleton area and North Fond du Lac schools (Oshkosh Police had previously mistakenly said Fond du Lac schools, but they issued a corrected news release later in the day).
Out of an abundance of caution, Oshkosh Police said there will be an extra police presence at Oshkosh West High School on Wednesday.
