DE PERE, Wis — DE PERE, Wis (NBC 26) -- With seven active cases of coronavirus here in Wisconsin, small business owners who specialize in running errands for people are preparing for more folks to rely on their services.
Michele Brock, the owner of Allow Me Concierge and Errands says with the coronavirus entering northeast Wisconsin, some of her clients are concerned they won’t be able to take care of daily routines.
“Groceries, the bank, picking up clothes,” explains Brock.
While her business model is designed for folks who are busy, she says it’s especially appealing to those who have a hard time getting out of the house, like the elderly.
"It's very rewarding to work with elderly people. They really appreciate your help."
Today, Brock is picking up a handful of groceries for a home delivery. Something she anticipates doing a lot more of for the elderly in light of the coronavirus entering northeast Wisconsin.
"That's very, very, scary for them to think that they may come down with this seeing how many other people are passing away from it."
Brock says after her trips to public places, it's important for her to try and prevent anything spreading to her clients.
"I do carry wipes in my vehicle. I wipe down all of my handles, my steering wheel and my hands."
This is all just another part of Brock’s errand service that she hopes will help some of her more susceptible clients, keep the coronavirus at bay.
"It does help for me to go out and get those things and drop them off for the client without them having to virtually touch anything."
And while to date there have been no deaths here in Wisconsin from the coronavirus, The Department of Health Services has advised nursing homes and assisted living facilities that it would be "very reasonable" to keep visitors away, as the elderly appear to be some of the most vulnerable to the virus.
