GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — On Saturday following the overnight snow, many families took the day to clean up and shovel their properties.
For the Moyano family of Green Bay their snow blower unfortunately broke down meaning they had no choice then to bust out the shovels.
"Just now I went to go ahead and start it and it's got the whole fresh gasoline, the whole deal because I took it out, I emptied it. I went to go and start it and it won't start,” Freddy Moyano said.
"For the most part its like hard because it may look like as its little snow but it can get hard once you shovel more, it can get heavier and heavier,” said 11-year-old, Vincent Moyano.
Freddy and his son Vincent used the snow day as an opportunity for some quality father-son bonding.
“You know my boy there's always a certain bond here and there. I’m not saying he’s a mini me or anything like that but we do a lot of stuff together,” Freddy said.
And the two definitely made shoveling fun.
"Shoveling it can get a little boring so if you have a little fun it makes it better,” Vincent said.
They laughed, acted silly and even threw snow balls at each other.
"He did a great job, so it's good to get that help. You just never know. Kids are there to help you,” Freddy said about his son helping shovel.
While their neighborhood didn't get hit too hard with snow, that certainly made it a lot easier to clean up.
"It wasn't a lot overnight. We, I guess got lucky that the winds blew in a way that we didn't get as much. But what we got started to get really heavy in the early hours of the morning. Like three, four inches we got. Started really about 7am progressing into 11am. Strong winds processing in areas”, Freddy said.
And as Freddy and Vincent braved the temperatures, for these two it’s all about the small moments like this one that make shoveling worthwhile.
