KAUKAUNA (NBC 26) — On the morning of February 17, the Kaukauna community was stunned by tragedy.
For nearly two weeks, people there have dealt with the emotions that followed when two children, 5-year-old William Beyer and 3-year-old Danielle Beyer, were found dead inside a home.
"It's really heartbreaking and emotional," vigil organizer Attalah Sinclair said.
"It was shocking," vigil organizer Allee Roy said. "It was shocking to everyone in the community. Everyone wants answers, everyone wants justice."
Friday, those emotions poured out at a vigil for the Beyer children. It was a night to remember those them and try to heal as a community.
"Getting together and finding common ground with our emotions," Roy said.
The hope is those emotions can begin to change and anger can turn to comfort, pain turn to healing. Tragedy has hit Kaukauana. Now, the community begins to recover..
"I hope that they maybe find some sort of peace after leaving here tonight," Roy said.
