Manitowoc County Emergences Services held emergency response exercises Tuesday with the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
The federal government requires local and state government agencies with nuclear power plants to demonstrate they can protect the health and safety of people living nearby in the event of an emergency.
"A nuclear power plant incident has some very unique procedures and that's why it's important for first responders to exercise those unique procedures and processes,” said Travis Waack WCEM Emergency Services Director.
The emergency response exercise will be conducted once again for FEMA evaluators in September.
