OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — EAA AirVenture is back! Events kick off starting Monday. Here's a look at some of the highlights of the event dubbed the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration:
1. '75th (Plus One)' Flying Demos
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2021 says it will feature expanded warbird flying activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary (plus one) since the end of World War II. The event will feature major air show flying activities on Friday and Saturday. There will also be additional World War II aircraft featured on the showcase Boeing Plaza on Friday and Saturday.
2. U.S. Air Force Special Operations
The aircraft and personnel of the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) will be among the highlighted programs at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2021. According to EAA, airmen who undertake Special Operations careers specialize in unique skills such as parachuting, scuba diving, rappelling, motorcycling, survival skills, and more.
EAA says some of the world's top air show performers have made commitments to fly at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2021 as part of the afternoon and night air show lineups.
The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital will return to AirVenture this year. EAA says the Orbis MD-10 jet aircraft has been saving sight and training eye care professionals in more than 95 countries around the world.
EAA AirVenture's outdoor Fly-In Theater presented by Ford Motor Company is adjacent to Camp Scholler. The film schedule features documentaries as well as Hollywood classics such as Top Gun, Tora! Tora! Tora! and Up.
6. Aircraft Rides at AirVenture
You can take a ride in a B-25 Berlin Express, a Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT-B, or a Bell 47 Helicopter and see the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration from above!
