OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — EAA AirVenture brings in more people and aircraft every year. The 2022 year wrapped up with record-breaking numbers.

The theme of this year's event was “Unlike Anything Else,” according to EAA President, John Pelton, the event lived up to the name.

“It has been unlike anything else. The number of records that we’ve achieved this year is absolutely incredible,” said Pelton.

Wittman Regional Airport broke the record again for the busiest air traffic control tower in the world during the week of EAA. One of the ways this was achieved; ushering in vintage planes, which was also record-setting as 2022 saw the most vintage planes both in the sky and on the ground.

According to Pelton, the biggest record broken this year was the number of people that attended.

“Attendance was a record here. By far the biggest year we’ve had any time at EAA. A total of 650,446 guests came through here this week,” said Pelton.

Guests agreed that this year was, unlike anything else.
