GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Downtown Green Bay is inviting everyone to attend their Rockin' New Year's Eve Family Celebration on the evening of December 31st. There are several events happening at the West Side, East Side, and Downtown locations of Green Bay.
Downtown Green Bay says they are providing a fun, safe, alcohol-free and drug-free environment for all ages to enjoy the New Year. From toddler to seniors, they've had about 4,500 people attend in the past.
Events start as early as 3 p.m. and some go as late as 10 p.m. Most of the events are free, but a few venues charge a small fee to participate. Take a look at the events listed below:
WEST SIDE EVENT LOCATIONS
At the West Side YMCA they are are holding an open house from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. They say they will have face painting, balloon animals, photo booth, and a bounce house. They are ending the evening with a "countdown to midnight" including a huge balloon drop, noisemakers, and glow sticks.
At the Boys and Girls Club they are hosting a three-on-three basketball tournament, music karaoke, prizes, and a raffle drawing from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Cornerstone Community Ice Center are opening their doors for anyone who wants to ice skate from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. They say to bring your own skates or rent a pair from them for only $2. Refreshments will be available and all proceeds will benefit the All Learn to Skate Program.
You can watch the Door County sled dogs arrive in their own special bus and meet the rescues after! Weather permitting, this will be happening from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
EAST SIDE EVENT LOCATIONS
At the East Side YMCA they are holding an open house from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. They say they will have BINGO, face painting, crafts, a magic show and balloon animals. Their water play area is also open for use with slides and sprinklers. They will hold a balloon drop at 7:50 p.m. to celebrate the New Year early.
The Kroc Community Center is open from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. They will have swimming and bounce houses along with crafts, balloon animals, and face painting. They will have a "countdown to midnight" including a balloon drop with glow sticks and dancing. They say all non-members 18 or older must have a photo ID to check in.
The Kroc Community Center is also holding a seniors-only dance from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. They say doors open at 5:30 p.m. with ticket prices being $7 at the door or $5 in advance. The dance floor will be open with music by the Bob Keuther Band playing. A photo booth will also be there to take a photo of the fun night.
DOWNTOWN EVENT LOCATIONS
Ferguson Family YMCA is holding an open house from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. They say they will have entertainment from Miller & Mike as well as a bounce house, swimming, and fireworks. Horse drawn wagon rides will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. They also say they will provide refreshments and a free dinner for those who attend.
The Neville Public Museum will be open from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for people to explore their exhibits. Horse drawn wagon rides will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. They say you can also see fireworks from their mezzanine window around 9 p.m.
You can enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride from the Neville Public Museum between 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and from the Ferguson Family YMCA between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. They say this is with weather permitting, so don't forget to bring your hat, mittens, and scarf for the ride.
Fireworks will be displayed at Leicht Park at 9 p.m. with weather permitting. They say the Main St. Bridge will be open and suggest finding a safe place to park for viewing.
