DOOR COUNTY (NBC 26) — Change is in the air across Door County.

The green leaves of summer have become yellow, orange, and red. The wind only moves waves, not boats. The people have left the beaches, and headed indoors. A popular spot now is the Wood Orchard Market.

"You'd be surprised that fall is actually the busiest time of year for us," owner Crista Kochanski said. "I think that's true for several businesses across door county."

Friday, the market was packed with people ahead of this weekend's pumpkin patch festival.

"It really celebrates all the flavors and festivities of fall," Kochanski said. "We celebrate apples. That's what Wood Orchard is known for."

Next weekend, the orchard will be busy again for fall fest. They're not alone.

"All of our hotels are pretty much full the next couple of weekends with the fall colors and the festivals," Door County Visitor Bureau Jen Rogers said. "It's just a great time to be in Door County."

Where through all the change, some things stay the same. The 70 mile peninsula is still a major tourist draw.
