DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- The Door County Sheriff's Office and Door County public schools are encouraging students and community members to download the "See it, Say it, Send it" app.

The sheriff's office and schools collaborated in announcing this new way to communicating in November 2019. The app allows people to send in tips, anonymously, in real time. The tip then is sent to the sheriff's office communication center.

Chief Deputy Patrick McCarty with the Door County Sheriff's Office said it's a way to respond to tips right away if needed.

Public schools in the county are encouraging students to use the app in hopes that they will report any suspicious behavior they see.

"We want students to feel comfortable and be able to report what they're seeing. Probably nothing more comfortable than a high school kid with a cell phone," said Mark Logan, the business administrator and school safety and security coordinator for Southern Door County School District.

McCarty said they're working on another part of the app that would allow them to send out mass communication or alerts on incidents happening in the county if necessary.
