DOOR COUNTY (NBC 26) — The Door County Sheriff's Office reported an inmate died in the jail on Thursday night around 11:12.
Deputies found the 54-year-old Sturgeon Bay victim unresponsive and without a pulse. Deputies began life-saving measures and the Paramedics from the Door County Emergency Services, first responders from the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department and officers from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department and Door County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to the jail. They tried to revive the man, but he was later pronounced dead.
The victim was a man in jail on a probation hold. His name is not being released pending notification of the family.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office has requested that the Brown County Sheriff’s Office investigate the death. The Brown County Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy for Monday, February 14, 2022.
