Death of 2-year-old child under investigation in Manitowoc County

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. — A public notice posted on Wisconsin's Department of Children and Families' website shows an investigation is underway into the death of a 2-year-old boy in Manitowoc County.

According to the notice, the incident happened Friday. The public notice was filed Monday. It lists Manitowoc County Human Services Department as the agency responsible for the case.

The notice does not list the exact location of the case in Manitowoc County, nor does it identify the child. The notice has a box ticked labeled "Death / Alleged mistreatment" as an incident description. The child's residence is listed as "in-home".

Early Monday evening, the Two Rivers Police Department says three people were taken into custody Friday in relation to the case.

Police say officers responded at around 3:50 p.m. to a home in the city of Two Rivers for a report of a 2-year-old that was unconscious and not breathing. Police arrived to find the child not breathing and without a pulse. The Manitowoc County Coroner's Office also responded and pronounced the child deceased.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and the Manitowoc County D.A. is reviewing the case to determine what charges to file.
