Deadly shooting under investigation in Oshkosh, suspect in jail

OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — A deadly shooting that killed one person is under investigation in Oshkosh. Police say the suspected shooter is in jail.

Oshkosh Police said officers responded to the 300 block of Oxford Avenue at about 5:51 p.m. Monday for a report of a person who had been shot. The person was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police said officers found the suspected shooter near the area of the shooting and he was taken into custody. The suspect, a 37-year-old Oshkosh man, has been placed in the Winnebago County Jail on charges of first degree intentional homicide.

Oshkosh Police are withholding the names of the victim, pending notification of the victim's family. Police are also withholding the suspect's name until he is formally charged by the Winnebago County District Attorney's Office.
