ALLOUEZ -- 5 people have died in the U.S. from Eastern Equine Encephalitis, a mosquito carrying disease that affects the central nervous system. Here in Wisconsin, no person has contracted the disease, but the Department of Agriculture says horses in Green Lake, Waushara and Barron counties have it.
"It's a concern, I just hope it doesn't spread," said Joe Benmour, from Allouez.
According to the CDC, the five people who died are from Rhode Island, Michigan and Massachusetts. With September being one of the wettest in state history, the fear for this deadly disease only increases.
"I was going to take a drive up north to see the trees, but I think I am going to wait for a good frost," said Bob Sicka from De Pere. "I don't want to deal with the mosquitoes up north."
