GREEN BAY (NBC26) — Community Services Agency Inc. held a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Sunday at Green Bay Mosque.
Members and families of Green Bay Mosque were able to receive the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through Prevea Health. There will be a another clinic where members can receive their second dose on June 27th.
COMSA is a non-profit organization that provides services to the Green Bay refugee and immigrant community. COMSA co-founder and president Said Hassan says the goal of the clinics is to help mitigate the obstacles that refugees and immigrants face when trying to access the vaccine.
"We are trying to make sure that vaccinations are accessible and available to them in a language they understand," Hassan said.
Through the use of translation devices, COMSA is able to translate Somali, Swahili, and French. They have also partnered with community organizations such as Green Bay Mosque to help refugees and immigrants schedule their vaccine appointments.
"We will be having some small group scheduling and also one-on-one as well," Hassan said. "So we are translating, we are using word of mouth, so that these vaccinations get into the arms of those who need them most."
