WINNEBAGO CO. (NBC 26) — It was a tragic end of the year for the city of Omro, after a tragic car crash in Florida killed a brother and sister, but left two to survive.

The close-knit community showed just how strong they are together as a restaurant, whose doors are usually closed right now, showed what small-town support means.

It's an ice cream shop you only see open during the summer, but Saturday afternoon the owners opened up to raise money for the grieving Milis family and their 17-year-old cousin Kyley Larsen.

Larsen was one of the two survivors from Tuesday’s tragic crash in Florida.

The young girl also a former employee at The Well in Winneconne, just down the road from Omro.

“I just felt helpless and wanted to help any way I can,” said Jeff Weber.

So he did, by organizing a fundraiser for his former employee.

The turnout ending up way bigger than what he was expecting.

As for the other survivor, Drake Milis was released from the hospital Friday.

In the meantime, Kyley is still gaining back her strength in the hospital.

Her two six-year-old twin brothers say they miss her and want her to come home.

As the two survivors of the crash continue to recover, family and friends say they will continue to do their best to help them navigate through these tough times.
