APPLETON (NBC 26) -- The Community Blood Center is hosting their 2nd annual Holiday Blood Drive at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (PAC) to cross their final gift off their wish list: a lifesaving blood donation.
They say people who are able to fit a donation into their holiday schedule will get a gift to show their gratitude. They say the gift for donors include a long-sleeve shirt, an exclusive Community Blood Center Christmas ornament, and a complimentary breakfast or lunch served by Copper Rock or Van Abel's of Hollandtown respectively.
According to Kristine Belanger, Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer for CBC, the holiday drive exudes the spirit of giving.
"It's a great way to add to the holiday spirit," Belanger explains. "Donating blood is a gift given to someone you'll never meet, but whose life you'll impact forever and whose holiday you've just made a little brighter."
According to Belanger, their first Holiday Blood Drive saw over 150 donors. This year's goal is 175 donors at the holiday drive.
"Blood donors are amazing people," said Belanger. "They understand that the need for blood doesn't take a holiday."
The Holiday Blood Drive is December 26th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can sign up for an appointment by calling (800) 280-4102 or by going to communityblood.org and clicking on 'donate' in the upper right corner.
