BELLEVUE (NBC6) - Which came first: the turkey or the eggnog? While the calendar tells us it’s the turkey, the Christmas "creep" is in full swing. That's when people start celebrating the merry season before Thanksgiving.

“I started listening to Christmas music two weeks ago,” said Kelly Vanderlinden.

Many stores have been stocked up with Christmas spirit for several weeks now; including Stein's Garden and Home. They said they've had a lot of early shoppers coming in early to put off waiting until Black Friday.

“We've had Christmas up for awhile, as you can see when you walk in, this store is packed full of Christmas,” said manager Mark Jeziorny. “I used to laugh with the customers as they first came in the store. Halloween was in the first 5 feet, then you had ten feet of Thanksgiving, then you're right into Christmas. And that was the way it was in October."

Vanderlinden is one of those people spreading Christmas joy early.

“My favorite holiday is Christmas. I just love family coming together, and decorating, and gifting,” she said.

A lot of people mentioned the early snow and the fact that Thanksgiving is as late as it can be this year, helped put them in the Christmas spirit before Thanksgiving. But that’s not the case for Becky Conard. She said she feels too many people skip the holiday, and that's why her house has no sign of Christmas until after November 28.

“Let me do Thanksgiving and be thankful for everything that we've been blessed with. That's my holiday,” Conard said.
