GRAND CHUTE — Chick-fil-A has announced its new restaurant in Grand Chute will officially open at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29.

The chicken frenzy is taking over northeast Wisconsin. Earlier this month Popeyes opened its doors off College Avenue and now one of its rivals will open just two blocks away.

Chick-fil-A plans to open at 6 a.m. Thursday. But many people are expected to line up tonight and camp out before it opens.

The store is giving the first 100 customers a free year supply of Chick-fil-A. Once 6 a.m. hits, people are expected to line up set up sleeping bags and tents and hop they are one of the lucky 100. Rules and details can be found on Chick-fil-A's website.

Only people 18 or over will be eligible for the free Chick-fil-A. This promotion is usual with Chick-fil-A openings. Last year they gave away $39 million worth of free Chick-fil-A at store openings.

The Chick-fil-A franchise has not been without controversy. It has been a boycott target for many after their founder opposed same sex marriage on a radio program in 2012, citing religious reasons.
