MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — It's a job that's about as sweet as it gets: a career in ice cream.

Cedar Crest Ice Cream in Manitowoc is looking for both full-time and part-time positions for its ice cream productions.

The company held a job fair today and will again Wednesday and Thursday. Officials hope they can find people who will eventually retire with the company.

"We're looking for 7 to 10 people. And that's to get second shift. If we can get 4 people to call it forever, I'd be very happy with that,” said Cedar Crest Plant Manager Ray Mills.

Starting pay is 17 dollars an hour and the company is looking for some key traits in candidates that will make them stand out.

"We're trying to capture key people that call this a career,” said Mills. “Cedar Creek ice cream is very special, very unique, it's a family-owned business. Wonderful people that surround us. We're trying to get people to stay with us, and hopefully, retire from us one day."

So, if you are interested in attending the job fair, it's outside of the Cedar Crest Ice Cream Plant from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to noon.

And, yes, you will get an ice cream sample.
