Brown Co. United Way gives nearly $180k from Emergency Response Fund

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Brown County United Way awarded three new financial grants to local nonprofits who are focused on helping people adversely affected by this pandemic.

Since starting the fund in March, Brown Co. United Way has provided nearly $180,000 to 22 Brown County nonprofit agencies with the most recent grants totaling $16,500.

The organization says three grants have gone to Community Services Agency, Inc. (COMSA), Oneida Nation Emergency Food Pantry, and We All Rise: African American Resource Center.

COMSA says the funds are helping provide food, health and hygiene items for refugee and immigrant families. They are also helping with emergency rent and energy assistance.

The Oneida Nation Emergency Food Pantry funds are helping stock their pantry with food and is also said to provide delivery services to high-risk or quarantined individuals.

According to We All Rise: African American Resource Center, funds are helping provide shelter to people experiencing homelessness.

Brown Co. United Way says the Emergency Response Fund has raised $273,307 and given a total of $179,504 in grants as of May 1.
