DOOR COUNTY (WGBA) - A house is a total loss after a fire Saturday night in Algoma, that's 25 minutes south of Sturgeon Bay.

It happened off the 600 block of Lower Lasalle road. Southern Door Fire says they believe the fire started near the chimney.

Safety Officer Steve Bongle tells us there were "flames coming from the east side through the roof and fire coming through the west side entry door."

Two people live at the single-story home, but were able to get out safely.

At least 5 departments were on scene. Bongle said it took about 20,000 gallons of water to put the fire out.

"Don't try putting it out yourself," Bongle added. "Get out of the house first."

There is no word on how much the damage will cost.
