Brown County and other local officials officially dedicated the Neil L. LaFave Suamico Boat Launch on Wednesday.
The boat launch, which was originally named Brown County's Suamico Boat Launch, is now named in honor of Neil L. LaFave who was a Wisconsin DNR game technician with special conservation warden credentials. LaFave was shot and killed by a hunting violator in the Sensiba Wildlife Area across from the boat launch.
"This day is a culmination of family, friends, government officials, banding together to achieve a common goal. That is to make sure that the Neil L. LaFave name lives on for generations to come," said Matt Kriese, Director of Brown County Parks.
In September of this year, it will be 50 years since LaFave was killed.
