The Big Wheel at Bay Beach Amusement Park officially opened on Independence Day.
The park acknowledges on Facebook that opening day for the wheel has been “up in the air” for so long, but now park goers can line up to ride the 100-foot tall Ferris wheel.
The ride features 20 gondolas that are wheelchair accessible.
The Big Wheel had a fundraising event prior to the grand opening to benefit Friends of Bay Beach.
The Friends of Bay Beach is a nonprofit group with the sole purpose of raising funds for the revitalization and renovation of Bay Beach Amusement Park. They're the reason Bay Beach has the Zippin Pippin rollercoaster, the Sea Dragon ride and now the Big Wheel.
The Friends of Bay Beach say their goal is to turn the park's 20-year plan into a 10-year plan so more children, parents and grandparents can create lasting memories at Bay Beach.
