VILLAGE OF BELLVUE (NBC 26) -- For the first time in the department's history, Bellevue Fire-Rescue Department will have 24 hour shifts.
The department announced the first 24-hour shift began at seven on Monday morning.
"Bellevue fire will now provide a full time 3 man engine 24/7/365," the department announced on Facebook.
The department's chief said the shift is a result of using the same staff in a different scheduling model, which will allow the department to respond to emergencies faster.
