GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Bart Starr's on-going legacy lives on in Green Bay.
After long anticipation, the Walnut Street Bridge was finally renamed this Saturday to the Bart Starr Memorial Bridge.

A dedication ceremony took place Saturday morning at the Cherry Street landing, where they dedicated the plaque seen above.

Starr's wife, Cherry was among the several featured speakers during the ceremony.
"It warms my heart every time I come back to Green Bay on how blessed we were to have spent our career here. We would have lived here for a lifetime had that been possible. We came to love this community so much," said Cherry Starr. "The love he had for the Packers, you fans, and this community, and this entire state. If Bart was here today for this beautiful tribute, he would thank you all for your support."
"I'm glad I was able to live through this to get here today and enjoy this. I'm sorry Bart couldn't be here to do it but he would be so proud," Cherry said.

The former quarterback won five NFL Championships and two Superbowl's.
"He was such beloved, probably the most beloved figure in Packers history. Not only what he accomplished but for what he stood for. What really stand in for me about Bart is how humble he was. It was never about him, it was about the success of the team," said Mark Murphy, Packers President/CEO.
