GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Senator Tammy Baldwin and Congressman Mike Gallagher spoke at a special meeting to discuss the State of the Bay Tuesday morning.

What's called the Clean Bay Backers talked about the successes and challenges of water quality in the Fox River and Bay of Green Bay.

"We do have some serious water quality challenges, but we've also made some extremely amazing successful strides in this area and it's because there are a lot of great people dedicated to working on these issues and working together to find these solutions," explained Julia Noordyk with the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute.

The group also discussed related public health topics including PCBs, agricultural runoff, algae blooms and PFAS contamination in our waterways.
