OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — They call it, "the wall that heals" and it's now in Oshkosh.
The AVTT Vietnam Memorial Wall is now at the Sunnyview Expo Center. It's an 80% scale model of the wall in Washington D.C.
The memorial travels the country with the goal of reaching as many veterans as possible.
"Usually when people walk through the doors, people are in awe. They don't realize how big it is and takes up the entire building from one end to the other 360 feet,” said Rick Helms, Operations Supervisor. “So usually when people walk in, just the size of it itself, it causes people to step back a little bit, and for those that know people that are on the wall, then an emotional aspect takes over as well."
The wall is open to the public at the Expo Center until October 10 at noon.
