KIMBERLY (NBC 26) — A student was removed from Kimberly High School after authorities said the student brought a fake gun to the campus.

Kimberly High School (KHS) officials responded Friday to a report of a student possibly in possession of a weapon on campus. KHS officials said they contacted the School Resource Officer with the Fox Valley Metro Police Department who quickly located and identified the student in question.

Officials immediately determined that the gun was not real, according to a joint statement from police and school officials.

Authorities said the student was removed from campus and is cooperating with law enforcement. As a result of this investigation, it was determined there was no immediate threat and charges are being referred to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office by the Fox Valley Metro Police Department.
