WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — While Valentine’s Day looked a little different this year due to the pandemic, couples around the area still made the best of it, on this day meant to celebrate love.

Sunday afternoon, several couples came out to Board & Brush in Green Bay to get a little creative.

“We love seeing couples coming in and creating something kind of nice. Something for their home decor. You know you’re sitting at your house so often these days. You go I want to fill a space in my home. This is a great way to come out, spend some time with each other and create something awesome that you did together", said Vanessa Schoen, the Operations Manager of Board & Brush.

For Justine and Michael Dalebroux, they decided to spend this day of love doing something they could create together.

“It's fun to work together. Like he’s doing his own thing and I’m doing my own thing, so then it’ll be fun in the end to see what we each decide to create separately but also doing it together at the same time", Justine said.

Schoen said this activity can really put couples to the test.

“Then you got to ask who is really the boss. You gotta ask are you going to take over the project or she going to take over the project, which is kind of fun to kind of play around with that", Schoen said.

For the Dalebroux couple they decided to create something for their two little ones.

“The two signs that we decided to create are the constellations, the zodiac signs that our children were born under and we’re just going to put it in their rooms once we’re done”, Justine said.

And this Valentine's Day people continued to turn to traditional chocolates.

“Oh yes, it’s been really busy for the last two weeks tied into Valentine’s Day”, said Jeff Olson, the retail manager at Seroogy's Homemade Chocolates in Ashwaubenon.

The local chocolate shop said they had more business this year, even compared to years prior.

“Valentine's Day week we’ve had a real nice, successful run the last couple of weeks. People seem to be responding very well to us, even more so than normal“, Olson said. “I think this year with the pandemic they’re buying chocolate to take to place, what other things they may have done, maybe go out to dinner or whatever because our movements are a little restricted right now, it seems like they're turning back to traditional chocolate gift".
