APPLETON, Wis. (NBC 26) — The Appleton Area School District board voted to make masks optional for students in grades 5K to 12 starting Jan. 18.
In a school board meeting late Monday night the board reviewed their current masking requirement protocol that requires all students and staff to wear face coverings while indoors within district facilities.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, the board reviewed the policy and voted to allow masks coverings to be optionalin grades 5K to 12 beginning Jan. 18.
According to the district, masks will continue to be required for students in EC/4K and all EC-12 students while on district transportation.
A two percent threshold for positive cases in schools will be used for requiring masks for 14 days.
