APPLETON, Wis. (NBC26) -- Balloon Magic, a party supply store, has seen a sharp decrease in sales since coronavirus hit Wisconsin.
Without any sort of public gatherings, traditional parties seemed out of the question. However, the veteran business owners were determined to continue bringing joy to their community while realizing a need to make ends meet.
"The best way to make someone smile is to figure out a way at a nice, acceptable safe distance so everybody's healthy, to just make them laugh," Phil Dubois, head of delivery at Balloon Magic said. "We found out that dressing in a costume and dancing in their yard is a good way to do that."
Balloon Magic is easily identified at the intersection of W Wisconsin Avenue and N Richmond St in Appleton by the dancing gorilla gracing their street corner daily.
"Since we already knew how to dance, and our dancing gorilla has been something that's known in the area, we kind of just expanded on that," Dubois explained.
Balloon Magic has done 10 Yard-A-Gram deliveries. They cost between $60-80 and are willing to hear any requests in Northeast Wisconsin.
