APPLETON (NBC 26) — On Saturday morning, the Appleton Fire Department responded to the a garage fire in the 1500 block of East Sylvan Ave.
The initial call indicated the garage was on fire and that the occupied home was filling with smoke.
Upon arrival, smoke was coming from structure . Fire crews searched and confirmed no one was left inside.
Crews brought the fire under control within ten minutes.
Damage was confined to garage area.
The fire is currently under investigation and a cause has not been determined at the time.
It was thanks to properly working smoke alarms that it alerted those inside.
Damage to the building and contents is estimated to be ten thousand dollars.
The Appleton Fire Department was assisted by Gold Cross Ambulance and Appleton Police Department
